The compulsory internship period for the student to complete the undergraduate program is at least 40 working days. This period must be completed in two parts of 20 working days so that the student can get to know different subfields of psychology, different institutions in the field and have different experiences. It is deemed appropriate for the student to start their internship in other sub-fields of psychology after the 4th semester and the clinical psychology internship after the 6th semester.
The purpose of the student's internship is to learn how the theoretical knowledge they received during their undergraduate education is applied in their professional life, to obtain practical information about the sub-fields of psychology, to determine the sub-field in which they want to specialize in the future, and to be better prepared theoretically and practically for the profession and the sub-field they have chosen.

Answer: You are to log in to the internship management system via the website https://www.iku.edu.tr/tr/staj with your school e-mail address, starting with your school number and with ikü extension, at least 10 days before your internship start date. You are to scan and upload your compulsory internship form to the system, signed, stamped and filled in all blanks, and in "PDF Format".
The attachments are to be uploaded in PDF format, otherwise the application will be deleted as it will not be visible on the system and the process will be repeated until the attachment is uploaded in PDF format.
NOTE: In the internship application, the compulsory internship form cannot be delivered by hand, and it is to be uploaded online via the system.
7. What are the things to consider when applying for an internship in the internship application system?
Answer:
a. The documents are to be uploaded as a PDF to the internship application system as stated in Article 2, with the information filled out and all signatures signed.
b. Internship applications in the system are to be made at least 10 days before the start date of your internship. For example, let’s say that your internship will start on September 30, you can apply through the internship application system on September 20 at the latest. The application submitted on September 21 will not be accepted. It is not recommended to apply with exactly 10 days left as in the case of any problem in the system or a missing/error in your documents, your application will be dismissed, and you will have to re-upload your documents and re-apply from the beginning. If you leave the application to the last day, you may have to change your internship start date because of the possibility of having issues in the application and the 10-day rule. Therefore, it is not recommended to leave the application to the last days.
c. The start and end dates of the internship are to be recorded into the system as "YEAR-MONTH-DAY". If the dates aren’t recorded properly, even if you send your internship application for approval, your internship application will be dismissed because of the incorrect date after being reviewed y Res. Assist. Hülya Fidantek.
D. If your internship application is dismissed for any reason, a notice may not be sent to your system or to your e-mail, so you are responsible for checking it through the application system. When necessary, you will be contacted via the e-mail address you entered in the application system, so you should enter the e-mail address you actively use into the system and check your e-mails frequently.
NOTE: In some instances, the documents you upload to the system may not be accessed in the system. For explanations see the "Frequently Made Mistakes" section on the website.
8. Is there anything else I need to do after receiving approval for my internship application from the internship application system?
Answer: You can submit the documents for approval after uploading them into the system in PDF format after making sure that the information and required signatures are properly filled out and checking that you have entered the dates in your document and into the system correctly (YEAR-MONTH-DAY).
9. Can I do my compulsory internship without taking the Field Studies course?
Answer: Yes you can. For example, you can write down your internship notebook while doing your internship in the summer and then keep your internship notebook ready after getting the necessary signatures from the authorized person in the institution. When you take the course the next semester, you can submit your internship notebook at the end of the semester. However, in order to pass the course, you are to take this course and submit your internship notebook.

Answer: The department only approves 20 business day compulsory internship applications. Voluntary internships are optional and internship insurance is not covered by the department/school. Therefore, applications for voluntary internships are not evaluated.

2. What is the protocol between Istanbul Kültür University and T.R. Ministry of Health?
Answer: T.R. Ministry of Health announces internship/applied training quotas specifically determined for our school every term. There are various conditions for application, you can access the relevant criteria in the file named "State Hospital Internship Criteria", which is among the "Compulsory Internship Information Documents" on the site. If the number of students requesting is more than the number of quotas communicated to us; We rank our students according to their GPA and the amount of credits completed and direct as many students as the quota to internship places within the framework of the protocol. In order to be informed about the information, you should regularly follow the announcements from the group that is contacted for department announcements via İKÜ CATS.
3.How many times a year are students sent within the scope of the T.R. Ministry of Health protocol?
Answer: Students are sent three times a year: Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.
4. What is the document required by the department from students who will go on internship within the scope of the T.R. Ministry of Health protocol?

Assist. Hülya Fidantek). Action will be taken against students who violate the appointment system.
5. What documents may be requested by hospitals from students who go on internship under the protocol?
Answer: Although the requests of each hospital are different, a committee report, SSI status certificate, and occupational health and safety training certificate are generally required. Before starting your internship, you need to talk to the authorized person at the hospital about the additional documents required. Since the documents in question are requested by the hospitals, there is no need to submit them to the department separately.
6.How can I obtain the Occupational Health and Safety Training Certificate required from students who will go on internship within the scope of the T.R. Ministry of Health protocol?
Answer: Occupational Health and Safety Training is provided by the relevant unit of the university only to students who are sent to public hospitals within the scope of the protocol. The dates of the Occupational Health and Safety Training in question are announced by the Department Internship Coordinator on the İKÜ CATS department announcement page. The specified Occupational Health and Safety Training is not available for students who are outside the protocol.
7. I was entitled to an internship at a public hospital with the protocol of the T.R. Ministry of Health. Although my name was sent to the hospital, I will not be able to go to the internship due to personal reasons. What will happen in this case?
Answer: You lose your internship right and you cannot benefit from this right again. If you are unable to go to the internship, you must write an Internship Cancellation Petition and submit it to the Department Internship Coordinator (See Article 3 of the Other Questions Heading).
8. I did an internship at a public hospital with the protocol of the T.R. Ministry of Health. Can I benefit from this right again in the following periods?
Answer: If a student who is sent to a public hospital in Istanbul for internship within the scope of the protocol makes a second application, this application will not be taken into consideration. As a result, each student can benefit from this protocol once.

OTHER QUESTIONS
1. Can I do an internship outside the province?
Answer: Yes, you can do your internship outside of Istanbul. Since it will be difficult for the students who will do their internship outside the province to come back to the university after getting a signature stamp from the institution where they will do their internship, they can get a signature from the head of the department or the vice head of the department at the university before leaving the city.
2. In any process of my internship application, I am asked for a signature and seal from IKU, what should I do?
Answer: Please contact Instructor Merve for signature, you need to get signature from our Internship Coordinator, Head of Department Ece Naz Ermiş.
Instructor Ece does not have a seal/stamp. If the organization you will do your internship requests this from you, be sure to inform them. If you need to get a stamp, you need to contact Student Affairs.
3. I have completed two compulsory internships, can I do the third compulsory internship?
Answer: Only two compulsory internships of 20 working days each are approved. If you have completed your first two internships, the third internship will not be approved even if you apply through the system, as the third internship is considered a voluntary internship (See Article 8 of the Internship Application Process).
4. I have applied for an internship, but I cannot go for an important reason and I want to cancel my internship, what can I do?
Answer: If you cannot start/do your internship due to a valid reason after you have made your internship application, in this case, you should fill in and sign the "Internship Cancellation Petition" on the website and send it to Instructor Hülya (h.fidantek@iku.edu.tr) as PDF. Instructor Hülya will send this document back to you after giving approval and you will need to send your approved petition to Human Resources (ik@iku.edu.tr) by e-mail.
5. The organization I will do my internship wants an internship contract, what should I do?
Answer: You should contact the Department Internship Coordinator Res. Assist. Hülya Fidantek.
6. How should students who are double majoring in Psychology from another department follow the internship application process?
Answer: These students should not apply through the internship application system. They are required to fill out the Compulsory Internship Form completely by signing/stamping in the relevant places and send it to Instructer Hülya (h.fidantek@iku.edu.tr) and Human Resources (ik@iku.edu.tr) by e-mail at least 10 days before the start of the internship together with a photocopy of their identity card and a certificate of eligibility (which can be obtained via e-devlet).
7. To whom can I ask questions not covered in this section?
Answer: If you have read and analyzed the other titles on the website but still cannot find an answer to your question, then you can contact our Department Internship Coordinator, Res. Assist. Hülya Fidantek (h.fidantek@iku.edu.tr).
Mistake 1: Asking questions without reviewing the information about the internship application on the site:
Many questions you may have are answered through the file titled "ABOUT THE COMPULSORY INTERNSHIP APPLICATION PROCESS" and "FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS" on the website https://psk.iku.edu.tr/en/student/mandatory-internship Please read and review the information here carefully.
Internship applications of students who do not apply within the specified rules in line with the information provided will be deleted!
Mistake 2: Counting Sundays or public holidays when calculating internship dates for 20 working days:
Saturdays are considered working days. However, since Sundays and public holidays are not counted as business days, you should not count these days in your insurance start and end dates and calculate them for "20 business days". Otherwise, the day of your internship insurance will be calculated and entered into the system incompletely.
Mistake 3: Obtaining the academic advisor's signature on the Compulsory Internship Form:
You must obtain the signature of the Department Head (Assoc. Prof. Melis Seray Özden Yıldırım) on the Academic Advisor section and Department/Program Internship Advisor Approval section on the Compulsory Internship Form.
Applications that have received a signature from their own academic advisor will be deleted!
Mistake 4: Trying to get signature from the department head without filling out the Compulsory Internship Form:
After filling in all relevant sections of your compulsory internship form, you must first get a signature and stamp on the document from the institution where you will do your internship. Afterwards, you can only get the signature of the department head when the form is filled out.
Mistake 5: The problem of internship application documents uploaded in the internship application system not appearing/opening:
There may be several reasons for this:
a. If you have uploaded your documents to the internship application system from your phone, the documents may not be opened when they are sent for approval. Therefore, if possible, make your applications via computer.
b. Documents you upload to the system other than PDF cannot be opened.
c. The size of the documents you uploaded to the system may be too large and therefore the system may not be able to save your application. If your application cannot be created, it is recommended that you check the file size and upload it by reducing the file size.
d. It may be a completely systemic error, for which the IT unit should be contacted.
The applications of students whose Compulsory Internship Form or Certificate of Conformity uploaded to the system is not opened/displayed when you submit your applications for approval will be deleted!
Mistake 6: Entering the internship start and end dates incorrectly in the internship application system:
In the system, dates are entered as "YEAR-MONTH-DAY". If you do not pay attention to this rule and try to enter it as day-month-year, for example, it may appear as starting your internship in 2060 and you may have sent it for approval in this way.
In this case, your internship application will be deleted by Res. Assist. Hülya Fidantek and you will have to re-apply from the beginning!
Mistake 7: Applying to the internship application system with less than 10 days until the internship start date:
For your internship insurance to be issued on time, you must apply at least 10 days before your internship start date. The system does not accept applications made 9 days in advance. If there are less than 10 days left until your internship starts and you somehow managed to submit your internship for approval, this indicates that you entered the dates incorrectly. For example, if you entered the date incorrectly and the year remained as 2060 (a common mistake made by those who enter day-month-year), the system will accept it because you will start your internship in 2060 and therefore your internship will be more than 10 days away. However, your internship application will be deleted because you did not comply with the 10-day rule and wrote the date incorrectly!
Note-Important: It is recommended that you do not apply 10 days before the system, that is, do not leave it to the last day. If for any reason your application is deleted the next day and you need to re-apply for your internship, this time you may have less than 10 days left and you may have to change your internship start date to a later date.
Mistake 8: Applying on public holidays, weekends or late at night and waiting for a response:
Applications made on weekends, public holidays and late hours will not be checked during these times, so it is recommended that you apply by taking the specified time periods into account. For example, you applied on Saturday night (there are exactly 10 days until your internship starts from that day). However, you will be contacted on Monday at the earliest, and if there is an error in your application, you will be asked to delete it from the system and re-upload it. Since you will not be able to apply with less than 10 days until the start of your internship, you will need to change your internship start date.
Mistake 9: My application was deleted in my internship application system, but I was not aware of it:
You may not receive notifications in your e-mail for applications deleted in the system. For this reason, you are responsible for checking whether your internship has been deleted through the system.
Mistake 10: Trying to hand-deliver all the specified internship application documents:
You must apply by uploading your internship application documents (Compulsory Internship Form) through the internship application system.
Mistake 11: Submitting internship reports before the end of the semester:
Internship reports must be delivered on the dates announced by Res. Assist. Hülya Fidantek through the CATS Event and Announcement Group.
